TM, 15m quoted, would be money well spent, like when we broke the world record for Parkes, always had a chance with Parksy in goal. All the best to him btw with his recent op. West Ham fans have always loved a good keeper. Parksy Ludo and Merv among others.

Joe Hart's available, not a massive fan for England but he's a decent club keeper

Re: WHU team VS Watford?
Adrian messed up in a couple of consecutive games from memory and it cost him his place, therefore Randolph should be dropped if he makes any more errors as only fair. Neither are good enough and we should buy a top keeper in the summer as a priority.

I think Kouyates best position is CB. Byram is a liability and taking longer to get ready than at first thought. Cresswell has always worried me defensively from day one, although excellent going forward. Ayew should get a run of games in front of Calleri and Norman Stanley, especially if Carroll is out

Last week Carroll was doubtful for Watford and "working towards fitness" as if he'd be doing anything else.

Is Carroll fit?
It has gone very quiet and did not see anything about him from Dubai. Fearing the worst I'm afraid.

Re: WHU team VS Watford?
We HAVE seen Kouyate and Obiang in the middle together this season.

I don't think he is the worst player I've ever seen, but his passing, movement and technique is not good enough for us to be a consistently good team if he plays regularly in midfield. The proof has been this season, and a large chunk of last season when he was anonymous, which most conveniently forget.

I would not drop Noble
Cannot see Bilic dropping Noble
But I must say it is interesting to think how we would do without Noble... Kouyate and obiang could be a good partnership...

How does Randolph still start? He's had a number of howlers. Not as good as Adrian in my opinion.

I agree with your line up eddie b and think at the moment thats the best side we can field.
I think all of a sudden with our injuries back we got what looks like a strong squad and am hoping we gonna really now start to see players under pressure for there starting spots.
Got a good feeling about Saturday and think we gonna give Watford a good thrashing! COYI

Re: WHU team VS Watford?
Sir Alf I follow your reasoning but I think you're too focussed on the defensive side of the game. Kouyate in midfield last season gave us the speed to make the transition from defence to attack a rapid one so that it was that was countering at pace. Obiang can't do that and that's partly why we've struggled with goals from open play.

I don't think Kouyate is a bad ball-winner either but he's an erratic passer. The problem this season when he's played in midfield has been that his passing has been erratic with consistent outcomes: straight to the opposition who have then scored (though Obiang vs Man City showed it's not confined to Kouyate).

Ultimately I'd like to see him back in midfield, whether alongside Noble or Obiang and for us to spend money on a mobile, goal-scoring forward and a decent right back.

I know we agree on the Kouyate debate and ,for me, we need another player in the squad who has defensive midfield play in their locker but with good technique ( first touch/control and distribution). This player also has to have some pace. Not sure if Fernandes could become that player as he looks like another that is naturally more of an attacking midfielder.

That's one of the big holes in our squad and why we struggle at home especially with 4 in midfield in games against good passing and counterattacking teams who break at pace (ooh err). Arsenal and City, Southampton at home are prime examples.

Look at our midfield. Noble is simply too slow and always has been and relies on diving in to make up for lack of speed and besides is not big enough physically against some teams to play as a defensive midfielder. His best position has always been further forward but he has unfortunately been at West Ham in an era where he has had to fill in defensively.

Snodgrass, Antonio, Kouyate, Fernandes, Ferghouli and Lanzini are IMO all more comfortable going forward, better suited to the attacking role (size for example in Lanzinis case), are too slow or just lack the instinct as its not their game, to do the hard, unseen tracking back, the closing down. And its our inability to press and close down that restricts us. Well the absence of a forward and RB has not helped either :-)

Long story short, I hope Bilic and Henry or Diddy Dave see the need to get another player in the Obiang mould in the squad. I look at Chelsea and the Kante / Matic shield, Dembele and Wanyama at Spurs, Toure and Fernandino.

There is of course a tactical and fitness factor too. We need all the midfield to understand that the modern day midfielder's role is just as important when not in possession but another DM like Obiang is a top priority in the close season along with a striker and RB.

Btw, the above is a example of "why use 1 word when 50 will do" ;-)

Agree about Byram. Jury still definitely out and we need to know if he can cut it. I'm worried about him. Looks very short on confidence.

Yeah, if only the one position change I've been boring off about for nearly 2 years had worked, we might have gone on our best run of the season.

Arthur in for Cresswell if Cresswell not fit

Antonio up top for Carroll with Feghouli coming in on the right if Carroll not fit

Ayew starts on the bench biding his time now

Eerie has a thing for playing people out of position. Works for him on championship manager no doubt.
